New IT helps Contractor grow business by 30 percent

RedSky IT is jointly celebrating a major success with its client Blackpool based contractor F Parkinson following release of figures by the builders indicating a 30% growth in turnover by the firm in one year.

F Parkinson Ltd (known locally and by clients as Parkinson Building Contractors) has seen its turnover increase from £23m to £30m from 2005/06 and it says with the new Summit IT system on board it can achieve more of its goals in the future.

“This is one of a number of contractors that are realising measurable benefits from an enhanced investment in IT“, said RedSky IT MD Mark Chambers. “We are delighted to see both the increase in turnover and the cost savings achieved.”

Parkinson, which recently won Lancashire Business of the year 2006, mainly works on public sector projects such as schools, hospitals, industrial and commercial projects. The contractor, which employs 120 people, has previously worked on contracts including Grade II listed Canada House in Manchester City Centre, as well as refurbishment and building works for BBC Radio Lancashire, North Manchester Hospital and the Royal National Lifeboat Institute’s new £1m main depot in Thornaby.

As Frank Hull, F Parkinson’s Finance Director says: “We are delighted with the Summit system. Quantity Surveyors now have up to the minute, correct information at their fingertips, which means they aren’t having to question costs and budgets, as they did previously, and it gives them the confidence to move contracts forward.

“And it has enabled other staff to take on more responsibility without having to constantly refer back to buyers. With so many big-budget contracts on the go at once, this is vital to our firm’s livelihood.”
