RedSky IT launches Middle Eastern operation

RedSky IT has announced that it is expanding its operations with the opening of a new office in Dubai. The announcement follows the recent signing of agreements with Dutco Balfour Beatty Group, Al Futtaim Carillion and Khansaheb, three of Dubai’s largest contractors. All of these companies have signed three-year agreements to continue to use business critical financial systems from RedSky IT.

Dubai boasts a highly developed economy with investments currently reaching £22 billion with a forecast of a further 67% growth in the next five years. Housing investment in the area is booming and is expected to reach around £32 billion by 2010 and the emirate is aiming to more than double its tourism figures to 15 million visitors in the next five years.

The new operation will be managed by RedSky IT Director of Business Development, John Conmy who is relocating to the United Arab Emirates. Commenting, Mark Chambers, Managing Director of RedSky IT, said: “This is an exciting challenge for RedSky IT. Although the housing and infrastructure sectors are expanding rapidly, the use of information technology in construction is still relatively under used in the region. We aim to offer an IT Benchmark for UAE firms to work from based upon our 30 years experience with Top 100 UK firms.”

John Conmy adds “This is an important step for RedSky IT. We have been active in the region since the early 1990s and already have 4 of the top contractors as customers. The direct presence in Dubai will give RedSky IT an improved reach with more of the top construction, contracting and AEC organisations in the UAE and this together with our presence at The Big 5 in November, which is the largest Construction exhibition in the world, will no doubt raise our profile in the Middle East construction sector.”

RedSky IT software now manages contracts in Dubai that total in excess of 4 billion Dirhams, and due to the burgeoning construction market in the region this amount increases every year.

Conmy concludes: “These major construction organisations need a specialist software application designed for the industry to cater for its unique demands. Gone are the days when a general accounting package would suffice for the construction industry. In this day and age when competition is fierce and margins are low, contractors need a system that is specifically written for their industry. With in excess of 1,500 different companies already using RedSky IT construction software, we provide just that.”
