The businesses that survive will be those that can adapt…”

New customer WCI is all set to take advantage of RedSky’s construction management and accounting software. RedSky’s system will introduce new efficiencies across the organisation, including by reducing manual intervention and eliminating duplication.

When wastewater specialist WCI was seeking an integrated platform that would provide construction-focused finance and commercial functionality, RedSky came out on top.

WCI Managing Director Brad Taylor said: “We have three divisions: Consulting Engineering; Construction; and Service and Maintenance. We needed to find construction-specific IT infrastructure and software that could be aligned to the way that we do business without forcing us to make too many changes to the way we operate.

“What attracted us to RedSky was the integrated nature of the system; it will fulfil most of our needs in one place across our three different disciplines. We’re hoping that it will remove an awful lot of manual intervention, duplication and lack of efficiency across the company. That’s the bottom line for us.”

WCI will be implementing RedSky’s Core Construction Financials as well as Procurement and  Estimating. RedSky’s fully integrated Service Management modules will support the company’s Service and Maintenance division.

Brad said: “We’re looking forward to the new system delivering productivity and efficiency improvements as well as a commercial capability that we don’t currently have or can’t easily deploy. The best example of that would be integrating estimating more seamlessly into job costing and profitability.”

Brad believes strongly that efficiency and proactivity are the key to WCI’s long-term survival. “We’ll need to be very, very responsive to our clients’ needs – more so than ever before,” he said. “The economy will be suffering, so price sensitivity will increase. Our ‘cost to serve’ will have to go down if we’re to maintain our margins.

“In the context of a pandemic and a recession, the businesses that survive will be those that can adapt and meet client needs in a way that maintains viability and profitability. We’re hoping that the RedSky system will help us achieve that.”
