Migrating to RedSky’s latest software is enabling Nicholas Stephens to comply with Making Tax Digital legislation and stay ahead of the curve.
Essex-based Nicholas Stephens Construction Ltd was established in 1986 and carries out a wide range of building activities, including new-builds as well as high-end residential, commercial, structural and enabling works.
The company has been a RedSky customer for more than 30 years. Last year, determined not to be left behind, Nicholas Stephens migrated from legacy product CONSTRUCT to RedSky’s latest software.
It was a RedSky roadshow event in 2019 that prompted Company Secretary Ruth Cummings’ decision to migrate. It made her recognise that she needed to move to a product that supports future growth. She also learned that migrating would provide a sure-fire way for Nicholas Stephens to comply with the new Making Tax Digital (MTD) legislation.
“RedSky Consultant Ishbel Wise did a very good job of getting us ‘MTD ready’ and showing us what to do for our first quarterly MTD submission,” said Ruth. “Being on the latest software will also be very helpful when the Government introduces Reverse Charge VAT and we have already arranged for Ishbel to help us with that in September.”
Nicholas Stephens implemented the Invoice Register module as part of the migration. The company’s quantity surveyors love it: they no longer waste time searching for paper copies because they can now easily access an image of any invoice within the RedSky system.
The company has been hosted by RedSky since 2010. All back-ups, system updates and legislative changes are all taken care of by RedSky, which has made life a whole lot easier for Ruth and her team.
But it’s not just the software that’s impressing Ruth. She has been blown away by her Account Manager’s proactive approach: “We receive great customer service from our Account Manager, Louise Dean, who is really lovely and very, very good.
“Louise always looks out for me and is very proactive. She knows that I’m not up to speed with the latest technology so she takes the time to explain things to me in a way that I can understand.”
