“I decided to bite the bullet and migrate…”

To futureproof the business, the Bradec Group has migrated from legacy product AXiM to RedSky’s latest construction and accounting management software.

Bradec has been a RedSky customer for more than 30 years. After using RedSky legacy product AXiM since 2001, Managing Director Steve Bradbury has taken the plunge and migrated to RedSky’s latest construction management software.

RedSky migrated the data

“In recent years the government has introduced quite a few significant changes for the construction industry, like Making Tax Digital and Reverse Charge VAT,” said Steve. “RedSky made them work in AXiM, which still did everything we needed it to do but was a bit ‘clunky’ in places.

“I knew we would have to migrate to the latest software eventually. So I decided to ‘bite the bullet’ and migrate in a planned way, rather than leaving it all to the eleventh hour. The preparation work started in October, when RedSky took our data and did a test conversion. We then received our training and were given a chance to try things out. We started the full testing phase in November.

“RedSky moved our core system and current modules across for us and we went live yesterday. The transition was reasonably seamless. To be honest, although the new system comes with many new features as standard, it doesn’t look wildly different from AXiM. We may well decide to add more ‘whistles and bells’ at a later stage, but for now it’s all systems go!”

Hosting will bring peace of mind

As part of the migration, Bradec is being hosted by RedSky. Steve said: “Now that our local area has replaced the old copper phone lines with fibre-optic cable, we have the speed and a sufficiently stable connection to be able to take advantage of RedSky’s Hosting service.

“That’s a great comfort to me. Our server failed a few years ago and we ended up in a right pickle, so it’s good to know that our back-ups are all now being done automatically by RedSky. They’ll be sorting out the system upgrades too – it’s good to take that responsibility off my shoulders.”
