Supporting business growth, cost value reconciliation and removing paper from the system – these are the main drivers behind Hills Building Group’s decision to migrate to RedSky’s latest software.
Colchester-based contractor Hills Building Group has been with RedSky for more than two decades. Finance Director James Cox said: “As a business we’ve been expanding during the last few years, so now is the right time for us to take the next step and get some new software that’s really going to assist with the increased level of turnover that we’re expecting.
“The latest RedSky system will accommodate our future business growth plans and we’ll be able to place more reliance on the software, especially as we move towards having a greater degree of electronic storage of documents, rather than keeping paper versions.”
Most invoices now come into the business by email rather than by post, so James has purchased RedSky’s Invoice Register module to digitise and exert greater control over the accounts payable process.
“Implementing the Invoice Register will see us streamlining the excessive number of steps we currently have in place, especially in relation to the authorisation and payment of invoices,” he said. “We aim to introduce one ‘clean’ process with a clear audit trail relating to where each invoice is within the system.”
James is also looking forward to implementing the CVR module, which will help him to track profitability on a project-by-project basis in real time.
“We will use activity codes to allocate each cost to a particular plot, which will greatly simplify the process of splitting an invoice between a number of plots. RedSky CVR will give us important insights into the costing for each of our house types and highlight which ones are the most cost-efficient for us to build.”
