Building and joinery expert Chappell & Dix is poised to migrate from CONSTRUCT to the latest RedSky system.
Gloucestershire-based Chappell & Dix has been using RedSky’s legacy CONSTRUCT software for around 17 years. Soon after lockdown, the company decided to ring the changes, by introducing a vibrant new brand and migrating to the latest RedSky system.
The migration will enable the company to digitise many of its existing processes. “One of our core reasons for migrating is so that we can implement purchase order processing,” said Commercial and Joinery Director Ricky Nelmes. “It’s going to help us exert tighter controls on orders for materials and labour, which in turn will help us better manage contract costs.
“We will be keeping more stringent, digitised records for an internal and external plant, too. The RedSky Plant module will provide a far more efficient and effective way to manage our entire plant hire process.”
The Finance team is very much looking forward to digitising the company’s paper-based timesheet process. “It’s all done manually at the moment,” said Ricky, “which is time-consuming and prone to error. RedSky’s Mobile Timesheets will change all of that. Everything will be done electronically, which will be a massive time-saver and increase the accuracy of our figures.”
As part of the migration package, the company has also purchased RedSky’s Invoice Register, to maximise the efficiency of the accounts payable process; and the GRN Register, which will mean that the Finance team no longer wastes time deciphering illegible goods received notes or chasing up missing ones.
The fact that RedSky could migrate all the company’s CONSTRUCT data in full – current transactions as well as static and historic data – was a huge bonus for Ricky: “We certainly didn’t want to lose any of our old data. After all, you never know when you might need to access it. It feels great to know that RedSky is migrating all our CONSTRUCT data for us and that safe passage is guaranteed. It’s a weight off our shoulders.”
Established in 1990, Chappell & Dix has earned a strong reputation for quality construction, with lots of repeat business and a very loyal client base. Its projects range from small domestic jobs, barn conversions and new-builds to the complete restoration of historic properties.
