RedSky’s cloud-based solution will bring new efficiencies to Roskel

Roskel has been using RedSky’s legacy DEMA product for well over 20 years. Migrating to RedSky’s latest cutting-edge construction accounting software will help Roskel become a fully cloud-based business and benefit from a range of new efficiencies.

The removal of Roskel’s physical IT infrastructure and transferring everything to the cloud has been on the agenda for some time according to Tony Partridge, Roskel Managing Director.

“We want to get everything out of the offices, to give our staff ‘anywhere, any time’ access,” he said. “Our original target was to make the transition within the next three years, but the pandemic has accelerated that decision.

“Like most businesses, our staff quickly switched to home working in March 2020. However, because they are using their own internet provider and different types of equipment, there are some compatibility issues and we’re still having to rely on workarounds for some processes, which is inefficient.”

Becoming a 100% cloud-based business will give Roskel staff the flexibility to be able to work far more efficiently, effectively and securely, from any location. The decision to remain with RedSky was motivated mainly by the desire to migrate from a legacy product to a more modern system while also avoiding unnecessary staff downtime.

“All the staff are very familiar with how DEMA works and can basically run it with their eyes closed,” Tony explained. “We wanted something similar to DEMA, or that followed the same logic and processes, and would enable us to use all our existing codes for our purchase ledger, cost headers et cetera.

“Based on the demo of RedSky’s latest system, once you get past the initial – very impressive – screen, the mechanics are very similar to what we have. We’re hoping that because of that familiarity, the transition will be pretty seamless.”

Looking to the longer term, Tony said: “I expect our staff to return to the office at some point, but not in the same way as before. I think there’ll be a lot more working from home and on construction sites, and a bit less of everyone being together in the offices.”
