Major developer Watkin Jones has signed up to migrate from AXiM to RedSky’s latest system in order to drive efficiencies across the Group.

The Watkin Jones Group has nearly 230 years’ experience in creating and managing great places for people to live. It’s a leading UK developer of multi-occupancy, managed, residential properties, with a particular focus on the student accommodation and build-to-rent sectors.

The Group has been using RedSky software for the last 15 years. In the first week of January, Deputy Chief Financial Officer Oliver Worrall signed up to migrate from AXiM to RedSky’s latest software. When asked what prompted this decision, Oliver replied: “It was a combination of factors.

“The improved facilities that are available with the latest RedSky software will generate efficiencies  across the business around processing transactions. We process around 3,000 invoices a month, so not having to scan them in is a big driver, along with the ability to introduce digital approval processes.

“The new system will also allow greater access to management information. At the moment, AXiM is ‘locked down’ and seen very much as a Finance system, accessed only by the Finance team. Migrating to the latest RedSky software will provide greater visibility for a greater number of people around the business – they’ll be able to access data directly and won’t have to rely on printed cost reports.”

Watkin Jones purchased RedSky’s core modules, including Finance, Payroll, Workflow Processing, Purchase Ledger, Subcontractor Ledger and Procurement, as well as Cost Value Reconciliation, Business Analytics and Invoice Register. The system will be hosted by RedSky in the cloud, so back-ups and system updates will all be done automatically.

Oliver said: “We had the kick-off meeting with RedSky’s Projects team in the first week of January. Once we’ve got the baseline built in, we’ll be looking to bolt on more of the modules.”
