Pipework and steelwork specialist Pruce Newman is one of the latest companies to sign up for RedSky’s construction-specific software solution.
After nearly 50 years in business, Pruce Newman has grown to become one of the premier engineering construction companies in the South and East of England. Employing between 80 and 120 people from its bases in Norfolk and Essex, it fabricates, installs and maintains pipework and steelwork and manages projects and maintenance activities for a broad range of industrial applications.
Managing Director Graham Newman is looking forward to switching across to RedSky’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) software. Having purchased the Financials, including payroll and procurement functionality, he is excited about the prospect of new opportunities to improve Pruce Newman’s processing operations and productivity.
What attracted Graham most to RedSky was the fact that it’s an ERP solution specifically for the construction and contracting industry.
“That’s going to be very useful when it comes to things like CIS [Construction Industry Scheme] and Reverse Charge VAT,” he said, “because RedSky is designed to meet the legal requirements. The new system also accommodates construction issues like purchasing subcontractors and plant hire, which other software packages can’t deal with.”
Hosting was another important factor in Graham’s decision to move to RedSky: “We currently have around 25 years’ worth of data on our ageing server, which is really slowing it down, so we’re really looking forward to being hosted by RedSky in the cloud. It’s going to be so much faster and we don’t have to worry about investing in replacing and maintaining the hardware.
“Back-ups will be done automatically and stored in the cloud, so being hosted will make us far more secure, from a disaster recovery perspective. RedSky will also take care of all system updates, which will lift a heavy weight from our shoulders.”
Last but certainly not least, Graham is keen for Pruce Newman to become an active member of RedSky’s User Group community and to get involved in driving the future development of the software.
Pruce Newman received funding towards replacing its existing ERP system with the new RedSky system. It was provided by the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership for Norfolk and Suffolk, which is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
